6.

How do I prepare walls & floors for a thin set application?
Level the surface to industry standard ie 3mm in 10Ft.

7.

What is the proper procedure to install a tile/stone using a thin set adhesive?
a) Dampen the substrate prior to spreading the thin set mortar
b) Mix the thin set mortar with latex/water
c) Slake the mix for 5-10Min
d) Spread the adhesive on the surface using the flat side of the trowel and then notch it with the notch end of the mortar

8.

How do I decide the size of a notch trowel?
Following criteria should be applied while deciding the notch trowel size
a) For Tile/Stone size upto 300*300,use a 6mm*6mm notch trowel
b) For Tile/stone size upto 450*450,use a 6mm*9mm notch trowel
c) For Tile/stone size upto 600*600,use 12mm*12mm notch trowel for large tiles, rib, lug back tiles back butter the tile/stone in addition to applying the adhesive on the surface.

9.

What is pot life?
It is the period of time during which a material maintains its workable properties from the time it is mixed.

Top

10.

What is open time?
It is the period of time during which the thin set adhesive maintains its ability to adhere to the tile and bond the tile to the substrate.

Top

11.

What is skin forming?
It is the time when the thin set adhesive losses its ability to adhere the tile

Top

12.

What is Initial/Final set time for thin set adhesive?
Initial set –approx 2 Hours
